From
May onwards, we have been introducing you to all the
people who work hard to make the GSPCA philosophy
of universal friendship and animal welfare a reality,
featuring one person a month.
Kajal
Srinivasan is a part of Mumbai's growing tribe of intelligent
beautiful young people, enamoured with technology, yet
strongly committed to social causes. She is a shining
example of how to make a real difference to the animals
she cares about, not by shouting "murder" from the rooftops,
or even by taking them home and nursing them - but just
by wielding her craft in computer design and graphics
so lovingly for their benefit. She began by designing
this website for us last year, and updating it visually
every month.

In
her words, "When designing the website, I wanted to
keep the mustard tree on the home page in mind - the
site should reflect the feel of the open branches....a
sanctuary where animals/people could come and rest.
To my mind the evening sunset represents all of that
to me....hence the colour tones. I kept the cream and
orange tones which remind me of the images of goan houses
etc. The text in the website has been written in a warm
friendly way. I feel that instead of showing images
of cruelty to animals as other sites do, showing a more
positive image of free animals gives hope....rather
than this sense of "we must save them or else...."
The
website is certainly doing well, thank you Kajal. It
has received over 4500 visitors, 10000 page views, and
100000 hits in the first seven months.

Early
this year, Kajal offered to develop a TV commercial
for us, using only computer graphics. Several senior
creative people in Mumbai's ad world have commented
appreciatively about it - this now runs on several satellite
channels over Asia (download
to view).
Kajal
has worked on projects for prestigious brands such as
Axe, Cadbury's, Shopper's Stop , i-flex solutions, The
Lotus Group, Tata Infomedia, Aptech, Hamam, Rhythm House,
Hindustan Levers and Advani-Oerlikon. She does a certain
number of projects for non-profit organizations and
Causes every year, totally free of cost, such as Crusade
for Cancer. If you are part of any such organization,
and feel that she can help you in any way, please feel
free to get in touch with her.
