The
year has several dates to celebrate that specifically
remind us of the growing need to preserve our environment,
our planet, Mother Nature.
Some
of the most important ones are World Animals Day
on October 4, World
Environment Day on June 5
and World Zoonoses Day on
July 6. Animal Welfare fortnight is celebrated
in January.
The
government also honours those who work selflessly for
nature in the form of the Prani Mitra and Jeev
Daya Awards, so that we can be inspired to do the
same.
This
section therefore brings you information on significant
occasions and newsmaking events in the animal welfare
world. This site itself is launched on the auspicious
occasion of World Animals Day, celebrated
on the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, the
patron Saint of Animals.
