Valentine's Day with a difference!

In 2003, the Goa SPCA celebrated Valentine's Day in a unique way. Dr. Sangeeta Vengsarkar Shah, noted pet columnist and canine cardiologist, conducted a special 'heart disease detection camp for us absolutely free of cost to us and to all the patients who came.

The ad below released in Navhind Times generated a lot of enquiries.

Ten owners, some of them with two or three dogs came over to get their pets checked out. The consultation included a free electrocardiogram.

The camp was expected to raise donations for the shelter animals, unfortunately not all the owners who came were as genereous as we expected. To those who did contribute something, we are most grateful.

Special thanks to Dr Sangeeta, who came down specially from Mumbai for this camp. Besides the free consults and ECGs, she gave us invaluable advise on our shelter management, and also with some of our more serious cases.
